This May SFT UK is working with some of the UK’s hottest skaters to highlight the ongoing crackdowns in Tibet and the consequent sufferings the Tibetan people endure in their own homeland under the Chinese Communist regime. More importantly, with the recent 6.9 Earthquake in Kyekundo in Eastern Tibet (Ch: Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province), in solidarity, SFT UK will use the event to raise funds out of which 50% will be donated towards the relief efforts for the victims
Background info: Kyekundo Earthquake in Tibet
On 14th April 2010, a 6.9 earthquake hit the poorest part of East Tibet – more than 2000 people have died so far and several thousands are homeless. An estimated 90% of the buildings have collapsed, the water dam nearby has been damaged and there are fears of the city being flooded. We are deeply saddened by this tragic human loss and therefore send our prayers to those who struggle for survival now. The vast majority of the local people are Tibetan herders without access to emergency relief resources. The people of Jyekundo urgently need your immediate help for medicines, clothing, food and clean water, and in the longer term for rebuilding their community.

If you are a skater and interested in taking part all you need to do is:
1) donate £2 for entree
2) Bring your own skates
3) be ready to skate 2.6 miles on road, first one back is the winner
4) get a sponsor sheet from us and get sponsored

For those who want to support the racers and enjoy a sunday in hyde park:
1) come with positive energy
2) donate or sponsor if you can
3) look fresh!
SAFETY:
This is a Street Skate, so you will be out skating on the roads amongst cars, bikes, people and uneven surfaces, so please do take care and wear protective amour/clothing. If you have never skated before this street skate is NOT for you.
SAFETY IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. SFT UK WILL NOT BE LIABLE TO ANY INJURIES YOU MAY INCOUNTER

SFTUK STREET SKATE UPDATE:
First of all we would like to thank all of those who are taking part in this Street Skate to raise money and awareness of the Tibetan people’s struggle.
Many of you are taking part in this for different reasons, which is great! Hopefully we can create new friendships and learn something from each other. We have almost 50 skaters signed up which is amazing and most of them have sponsor sheets, but if you don’t, please contact mike or myself at pema@sftuk.org
If you are able to fundraise and get people to sponsor you that would be excellent but if you cant that is also fine and its about the taking part that counts, so thank you for that. However, right now I think skate Mic Rafone is in the lead with a wopping £217 raised!! Lets see if anyone can reach that, Mic Rafone seems to be getting a lot of support there, and I hope those who wont be skating can give all the skaters support by coming down to Hyde Park.
